Surgical Care for Young Lives

Ward 32 is a dedicated paediatric surgery recovery ward at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Johannesburg, providing specialised care for children from birth to age 14.

Services and Facilities

The ward treats a range of conditions, including general surgery, urology, maxillofacial surgery, and gynaecology.

30-bed general paediatric surgery ward, including a High Care Unit.

24/7 care provided by a skilled medical team.

Additional facilities: Library, playroom, patient and staff bathrooms, nurse WC, locker room and staff kitchen.

Upgrades & Renovations

The Ward 32 upgrade project was made possible through the generous support of GSK, Mediclinic, and Surgeons for Little Lives, in collaboration with the Gauteng Department of Health and many other valued partners.

The bathroom renovations were successfully completed thanks to the dedicated efforts of M&D Construction, which provided skilled labour in electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, painting, tiling, and project management. Additionally, Studio IDH contributed its expertise in design and planning.

2018: Ward 32 Revamp & Library Addition

A full-scale renovation transformed Ward 32, creating a better environment for both patients and medical staff.
