Minimally Invasive
Surgery and Endoscopy
Precision, Less Pain, Faster Recovery

Minimal discomfort
Our dedicated team of pediatric surgeons uses state-of-the-art techniques to ensure the highest level of care with minimal discomfort and faster recovery times.
Upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy
Upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy refers to the use of a flexible or rigid camera to view different parts of the intestine.
Endoscopy can be used to diagnose and treat certain conditions and is always performed in theatre under general anaesthesia. Endoscopy is useful in patients with reflux, vomiting of blood, caustic ingestion, ingestion of foreign bodies and bleeding from the anus, amongst many other conditions.
Endoscopic procedures have low complication rates and children are usually discharged on the day of the procedure. After the endoscopy your child may complain of some pain, but this should resolve.
Minimally Invasive Surgery
Minimally invasive surgery (MIS), also known as key hole surgery, enables surgeons to operate through small incisions using a surgical telescope (camera).
MIS is not appropriate for all conditions, but has the advantages of smaller incisions, reduced scarring, reduced pain associated with surgery, and a faster recovery.
Where appropriate, the doctors will discuss the possibility for MIS in your child with you.
Enhancing Paediatric Surgical Care Through Education
Our programme aims to bridge the gap between specialist and non-specialist facilities, ensuring that all children, regardless of location, receive timely and appropriate surgical care.
