Creating Safer Homes Through Burn Prevention Education

Our incredible Health Promotion team was out in the community yesterday, hosting an awareness stand at the Diepkloof Clinic Open Day.
Creating Safer Homes Through Burn Prevention Education

As part of this important initiative, the team focused on reducing preventable burn injuries through education, with a special emphasis on home safety for children. For many families, the home is where children should feel safest, yet everyday risks such as hot liquids, open flames, stoves, heaters and electrical hazards can lead to serious burn injuries if the right precautions are not in place.

Through practical safety tips and meaningful conversations with caregivers, our Health Promoters shared valuable information to help families identify risks and make small but important changes in their homes. These moments of engagement created space for learning, questions and real-life guidance that caregivers can take back into their daily routines.

The day was a powerful reminder that prevention begins with awareness. When communities are equipped with knowledge, they are better able to protect children from avoidable injuries and create safer environments where little ones can grow, play and thrive.

We are incredibly proud of our Health Promotion team for their continued commitment to empowering caregivers and strengthening community awareness.

Because the knowledge shared today can help prevent the injuries of tomorrow.
