My name is Lerato Chidi and I am a Secretary at the Paediatric Surgery Department. My job entails providing secretarial and administrative support to the Head of Department and to doctors. I am also responsible for facilitating communication within the office and fielding interactions with the public.
I started on the 1st of May 2022 and it was a dream come true as I have always wanted to work in Baragwanath Hospital.
There is not a lot of pressure and I manage to work on my own pace and Ansie also comes through for me when I don’t understand something.
The most challenging thing about my work is always having to remind doctors in terms of administrative work because some take time to submit documents and that causes delay on my part but nothing I can’t handle.
In terms of family, I have a mother, 1 sibling and a son, however we live with my aunts 2 children of which I take them as my family as they have been staying with us for a while now.
My wish for the country is for it to be a better and safe environment for both children and woman.
