I recently went to Surgeons for little lives for one day the, 29th of June for a job shadowing experience during my recess.

Upon my arrival I was welcomed appropriately and got the chance to wear scrubs, which felt like a dream come true and made the whole experience feel real.

I am extremely glad that I was able to get the opportunity to observe healthcare professionals in a real clinical setting. It gave me a deeper understanding of the responsibilities, teamwork, and professionalism required in medicine, from when the doctors were holding a meeting to discuss what is expected from them for the day or different cases they had been tackling to witnessing the surgeons scrubbing in.

The whole working environment is approached with delicateness which truly made my respect for this field grow stronger.

This experience has reinforced my dedication to medicine and has inspired me to embark on the journey of learning more and to one day see myself in this space.

Overall I appreciate this chance and the insights I have obtained from it.

Kind Regards
Rethabile
