Induced at 38 weeks due to high sugar levels, she endured intense labor pains and delivered her son naturally despite his breech position. Hours later, complications arose, and he was admitted to ICU with concerns about brain damage. Thankfully, further monitoring showed no major issues.
However, doctors discovered a hole in his intestine, requiring urgent surgery. Under the skilled hands of Dr. Mashavave, the procedure was a success, and he was later discharged by Dr. Patel.
Now thriving and under observation at the Metabolic Clinic, the little boy is growing well. Grateful for the compassionate care received, his mother extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated doctors and nurses who supported them through their journey.
I gave birth to my handsome baby boy in December 2021. He is now 1 year 5 months old. – At full term I was to give birth at CHBAH, however on my 37th week appointment I was informed that I would be induced due to my sugar levels and I was booked to come back on my 38th week. Upon arrival I was prepped, induced and had pains a few hours later, I was then taken to High Care in Maternity ward, that’s when I was informed that my baby was in breech position and I needed to be rushed to theatre. I was unfortunately unable to get to theatre as my pains were too much and at that point, I just pushed my baby out.
Baby was fine but hours later he was in ICU and there were apparently some complications such as “he was brain damaged”, fortunately he was monitored and the doctors told me they do not see any issues, however he is still being observed at the Metabolic clinic and so far so good, he is growing very well. The next thing the doctors told me was that he had a hole in one of his intestines and that he had to be operated. I signed consent forms and he was taken to theatre. He was operated on by Dr Mashavave. The operation was very successful and my baby was discharged by Dr Patel. I continued to come for check up’s at PSOPD and everything has been going well, we are now discharged on that matter.
The nursing staff and all the doctors that saw us were really nice and very helpful. Everything would be explained to my satisfaction. I am very happy and would like to give my thanks to everyone involved.
