Dear Mrs. Shabi, Mrs. Welthagen, Dr. Govender, Dr. Savadeer, and Chris Hani Baragwanath Team,
I trust you are all well. On behalf of the Hilton College Grade 11 students, I would like to express our sincerest appreciation for hosting us at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. I can say with full confidence that it inspired us all to pursue our calling to the medical field. We were filled with a sense of duty whilst walking around the wards, desperately wanting to contribute to the ongoing work at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
A story that stood out for me was Diana’s – where the Royal Family entrusted Bara’ to analyse her files and identify areas of potential misjudgment. It was deeply inspiring to know that South Africa is at the forefront of medicine and that Bara’ is recognised globally for the incredible care they provide.
Our visit opened my eyes to the efforts we are making to bridge the gap between the healthcare disparities in our country. The work of Surgeons for Little Lives was particularly touching and brought to light the possibilities of better and more accessible care by uniting passionate individuals. I believe that the generations to come will continue supporting these efforts, using their position and privilege to drive positive development.
We hope that Bara’ remains a world-class teaching hospital, up-skilling doctors across the globe, and continues to contribute significantly to the provision of better healthcare for all. Hopefully, you’ll see us pass through Bara’ a few years down the line!
May your company continue to flourish and inspire those around you.
